Imagine having the capability to revert from being a mature adult to a young child. Only the jellyfish can do that. It's amazing to know that there are animals who could fulfill most of our greatest dreams: to live forever. We often neglect the existence of these small animals, yet we never realized that they were gifted with something that we could only dream of.
Immortality is something a lot of people wanted to attain. It has been the subject of a dozen films, cartoons and the like where an evil antagonist would go on a quest to find the fountain of youth or somewhat in order to amass more wealth and power. The protagonist would then try to thwart the evil madman's plans. It's a common plot.
Yet we can never deny that deep within us, living forever is what we wanted.
That would be cool!
So let's turn into jellyfish. Not really.
If we only knew, eternal life is within our grasp. It is very possible. We can learn that from the jellyfish. When I read the article, I thought why did God gave these silly creatures such amazing gift? Those animals are actually worthless. Sometimes, their sting would hurt a swimmer. Sometimes, these crazy critters would clog power generators. If anyone could remember the time when a large block of Metro Manila lost electricity due to a hoard of these creatures blocking the generators.
So why did God give immortality to them? My only guess is that because these jellyfishes have no desire for anything. They just floated where God wanted them to float. They move wherever and whenever the Lord steered them. They could move on their own volition but waves stronger than them could carry them elsewhere. Hence, their abundant number in various seas.
For starters, this could probably be the key to eternal life. Care for nothing but that which God wanted you to care for. Not power. Not riches. Not wealth. The cares of these world mean nothing to them just like the jellyfish. They are simple creatures.
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother[a] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. - Matthew 19:28-30
